The Student Government Association (SGA) kicked off the spring semester of 2010 on Thursday, Jan. 14 by having their first general meeting in which they discussed the numerous activities they are planning.
The purpose of the meeting was to organize the events that are scheduled to happen in the spring and review the main accomplishments the previous semester.
To resolve most of the issues of last semseter, SGA formed School Improvement Committees, which are now called "Ad hoc Committees," to focus on particular problems.
According to SGA President Shayla Williams, the Ad hoc Committees has been a successful accomplishment for the campus and SGA.
"We have talked to the maintenance staff [about] the trash cans and the dining services to make improvements," said Williams.
During the meeting, SGA worked on organizing the budget for the student organization "The Riot." Many students may not be aware that The Riot is actually a student organization that sponsors free t-shirt giveaways.
Another event that SGA worked on planning was "Death By Chocolate." The menu for this event, which is scheduled for Feb. 18, was created.
