An endowed scholarship has been established at Francis Marion University in memory of Constance Cooper and Janet Spring in the fields of nursing and education, areas which meant a great deal to them.
The Ladies Guild of St. Anne's Catholic Church established the Constance Cooper and Janet Spring Memorial Scholarship to perpetuate the memories of the two who dedicated their lives to their families and professions. The scholarship benefits two Catholic students, one majoring in nursing and one majoring in education.
The recipient must also be a junior or senior with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
Cooper was a teacher in Florence School District One for 30 years. She held the first Harvest Tea in her home in 1976 to raise funds for parish renovations. Her spiced tea continues to be served at the Harvest Tea. In 1977, she helped form the St. Anne's Ladies Guild.
Spring was a registered nurse for McLeod Regional Medical Center for 25 years. She supported the Guild's efforts, chairing the Bereavement Committee. She planned with enthusiasm the annual Tea.
Their tireless efforts and support of St. Anne's parish and the Ladies Guild are remembered with deep respect by the parishioners through the establishment of the scholarship. The Harvest Tea continues each year raising funds for this scholarship.
Additional contributions can be made to this fund at any time. Contributions should be made payable to the Francis Marion University Foundation, P.O. Box 100547, Florence, S.C. 29502-0547
