Todd says her family and friends helped her to relax while on stage.
"Even when I was scared doing the onstage question and didn't know what they were going to ask me, they were out there in the crowd, making faces trying to make me laugh so I wouldn't be so nervous."
The production wasn't all work and worry, however. Several of the girls described having fun in dance practice and being silly backstage during the show.
"I would recommend the pageant to anybody because it was a lot of fun. We had a blast, we cut up in dance practice and when we got up there, it was hilarious," Sophomore Kristen Lea Stokes said.
"Backstage we were just joking around having a good time just trying to stay happy the whole time," Van Laethem said.
Overall, the organizers agree that this year's event went well. The Ms. FMU pageant takes almost the entire school year to put together, so plans are already in the works for next year's event.
"I think tonight's pageant went really well, the ladies were prepared, the pageant was a great experience for everyone involved," Senior Hope Wofford said.
"I look at each year as a challenge to make it better than the last, so well see what happens next year," Richardson said.
Ms. FMU must be a full-time student, have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5, and choose a community service project.

Congratulations to Holly on this. Looks like she deserved that crown.
