Blue laws temporarily suspended

There might be less daylight, but shoppers will have more time to browse store racks during the holiday season.
Florence County has passed an ordinance to drop restrictions on Sunday work hours, allowing businesses to be open seven days a week until Dec. 30.
Magnolia Mall in Florence will open 11 a.m. Sundays during that period.
Alcohol sales will continue to be prohibited on Sundays. Under South Carolina's blue laws, businesses may not open before 1:30 p.m. Sundays.
There are exceptions to the normal blue laws, such as machine shops and manufacturing.

Sorry to hear that you suspended your Sunday Closing laws - I do hope you reconsider. Our American tradition reaching back into colonial days has made Sunday a day of rest and quietness. (Continued…)
