Three Francis Marion students made up the entire cast of a heartfelt and sensitive rendition of Lee Blessings' "Eleemosynary," directed by D. Keith Best on Feb. 18-20.
The Francis Marion University Board of Trustees unanimously voted to extend the contract of President Fred Carter during its quarterly meeting Friday (Feb. 5). Following an executive session, the trustees authorized Chairman W. Coleman to execute a three-year extension to President Carter's contract continuing it through 2020.
Francis Marion University has promoted Teresa Ramey to vice president of student affairs, effective April 1. Her responsibilities include providing leadership for the university's Division of Student Affairs. She will oversee all departments in the division, including the Dean of Students' Office, the Office of Counseling and Testing, Student Health Services, the Office of Career Development, the Office of Multicultural Affairs, Campus Recreation and the Smith University Center.
The University Center was filled with over 250 students earlier this month in response to the Baptist Collegiate Ministries' (BCM) love-hate campus outreach event. "We did love-hate because we wanted to get the thoughts and opinions of the campus on a variety of different topics," said Kendal Danford, campus minister of the BCM.
Francis Marion's Kappa Delta joined in with thousands of volunteers and the crew of Extreme Makeover in late January to help build a new home for a family that lives in Loris, SC.

Students acted as amateur sleuths for a night at the first-ever murder mystery event Death by Chocolate, hosted by the University Programming Board (UPB) and Student Government Association (SGA) on Feb. 18 in the University Center Commons.
The University Center Commons transformed into a casino floor when over 200 students came out to try their luck and place their bets.
